Meyer Elementary School
Meyer Elementary serves Pre K – 2nd grade. The original campus was constructed in 1956. Due to the age of the facility, there are a number challenges related to educational adequacy and capital needs. Meyer currently serves approximately 570 students. The HISD bond program includes the following improvements for Meyer:
- Administration Addition/Renovation – Includes secured entry, Counselor's office, conference room for Staff and ARD meetings, and Staff restrooms with changing stations.
- Renovation of classroom wings to match 2nd Grade wing. All classrooms to be 800sf to comply with State requirements for PK-1st Grade. New music room.
- Campus wide fire alarm upgrade, re-roof canopies, and improve site drainage.
- Install HVAC in gym.
- Casework renovation in classrooms for improved storage
- Repurpose existing Music (Rm 302) for a Computer lab.
- Cafeteria Renovation – includes replacing exterior windows and providing acoustical treatment.
- Restroom renovation in existing Administration for handicap accessibility.

The final phases of additions & renovations to Meyer were completed in time for school to begin Fall of 2018. The newly renovated wings, along with other miscellaneous upgrades created much improved administrative and support areas; but more importantly, inviting and modern instruction and collaboration spaces. |
